What makes this
different

Most coaching certifications teach you a methodology. They give you a framework, a set of tools, a sequence of questions. They train you to follow a process.

The Uncommon Wisdom Coaching Institute trains something different: your presence. Because the single most potent instrument in any coaching relationship is not the coach's technique. It is the coach's quality of being — their capacity to be genuinely, fully, non-reactively present with another human being in the midst of their difficulty.

This is what we develop. Everything else — the frameworks, the tools, the methodologies — emerges naturally from this foundation. A coach who is deeply present does not need a script. They listen from a different place, ask from a different place, and offer a quality of contact that no amount of technical training can produce.

"The deepest service you can offer another human being is not advice, strategy, or motivation. It is the willingness to meet them as the aware, whole being they already are — before the story, before the wound, before the seeking. That is what we train here."
— Maitreya

The Three Pillars

What your training
is built upon

01

Non-Dual Wisdom

The foundation of your coaching is your own direct recognition of what you actually are — beyond the story of the separate self. From this ground, you meet your clients not as a helper who is above their suffering, but as an awareness that knows suffering and knows what lies beneath it. This is the most fundamental gift a coach can offer.

02

Somatic Presence

Genuine coaching happens in the body as much as the mind. You will develop the capacity to track somatic process — in yourself and in your clients — in real time. To notice the subtle signals that precede words. To work with the nervous system's intelligence rather than bypassing it. To offer a quality of embodied presence that creates the safety genuine change requires.

03

Direct Transmission

The Uncommon Wisdom approach is not primarily about transferring a methodology. It is about transmitting a quality of being — through direct contact, through supervised practice, through the experience of being genuinely met and guided. What you receive in this programme, you learn to offer. The transmission continues through you into every coaching relationship you hold.

The Full Curriculum

Six months.
Six deep immersions.

Each month is a complete immersion in one foundational area of presence-based coaching. The modules build on each other progressively — each one deepening what came before, while opening the territory of what comes next. Click any module to explore its full curriculum.

Month One  ·  Weeks 1–4
The Coach's Inner Ground
Presence, Self-Knowledge, and the Foundation of All Coaching

Before you can coach from presence, you must know what presence is — not as a concept, but as a direct, lived, embodied recognition. Month One develops the inner ground from which all authentic coaching arises. This is the work you do on yourself, so that your clients can benefit from who you have become.

Hearing What Is Not Said and Meeting What Is Underneath

Somatic Coaching in Practice
Working with the Body, the Nervous System, and Held Experience

The body is where transformation lives. Cognitive insight alone does not produce lasting change. This module equips you to work with the body as a primary resource in coaching — tracking somatic process, working with the nervous system's states, and helping clients access the intelligence that lives below the level of thought.

The Coaching Relationship
Alliance, Rupture, Repair, and the Power of Genuine Contact

The coaching relationship is not a vehicle for the delivery of coaching techniques. It is itself the primary instrument of transformation. This module goes deep into the relational field — into what makes genuine contact possible, how to work with ruptures when they occur, and how the quality of the relationship between coach and client determines everything that becomes possible within it.

Core Curriculum
The Therapeutic Alliance in CoachingWhat the research says about what actually creates change — and it's not technique

Your Lead Teacher

Maitreya

Maitreya  ·  Founder, UWCI

Maitreya has been teaching in the non-dual tradition for over two decades, drawing on Advaita Vedanta, somatic healing, and the direct transmission of presence-based awakening. Her work began with a kundalini awakening at 21 that dismantled every previous understanding of what she was, and opened an inquiry into the nature of consciousness that has never closed.

She is the founder of MaitreyaBuddha.com and the Uncommon Wisdom Coaching Institute, and has worked with thousands of students and clients across individual sessions, group programmes, retreats, and online courses. Her approach is characterised by its honesty, its precision, its warmth, and its refusal to offer anything less than what is actually true.

The Uncommon Wisdom Coaching Institute was created because Maitreya saw again and again that the people most capable of supporting others through genuine transformation were those who had undergone it themselves — and that what was missing was not more technique, but a deeper and more honest relationship with their own being.

The certification programme is the most concentrated expression of her teaching available. It is designed not to produce coaches who sound like Maitreya, but coaches who have developed the quality of inner ground from which genuine, distinctive, deeply effective coaching naturally arises.

Graduate Voices

What our certified coaches say

I came to the Institute as a seasoned professional who had read everything. What I encountered here could not be read. It had to be lived. My clients feel the difference immediately — something in the quality of attention I bring now that was simply absent before.

Sarah M.
Cohort 1  ·  London

Twelve years of therapeutic training gave me a framework. The Institute gave me a foundation beneath the framework. The difference between knowing about presence and actually inhabiting it is the difference between reading about water and swimming in it.

Dr. James K.
Cohort 2  ·  Toronto

I almost did not apply because I had been burned by spiritual programs that promised transformation and delivered information. The Institute is different in a way I cannot fully articulate — something genuine is transmitted here, and it does not leave when the program ends.

Cohort 1  ·  São Paulo

Frequently Asked Questions

What you need
to know

Do I need prior coaching or spiritual experience to apply?
No prior coaching experience is required, and no specific spiritual tradition or practice background is necessary. What we ask for is this: genuine seriousness about your own inner work, and a real calling toward service. The most impactful graduates we have seen often arrived knowing very little — but with an unusual depth of sincerity. That matters more than anything else.
How much time does the programme require each week?
Participants should expect to invest 8–12 hours per week. This includes the weekly live session (90 min), bi-weekly supervision triads (90 min), self-study and reading (2–3 hours), and supervised client practice sessions (2–4 hours). The programme is intensive by design — genuine transformation requires genuine investment of time and attention.
Is the programme delivered online or in person?
All live training is delivered online via Zoom, making the programme accessible to participants worldwide. All sessions are recorded for those who cannot attend live. An optional in-person graduation retreat is offered at programme completion for those who wish to gather in community. Location to be announced.
Where do I find clients for supervised practice hours?
UWCI provides a client-matching service connecting programme participants with individuals seeking coaching support at a reduced rate. Participants may also work with people from their existing networks. We provide guidance, intake forms, agreements, and all necessary documentation for your supervised practice.
Is the CPBC credential recognised internationally?
The CPBC from UWCI is a proprietary credential grounded in the distinctive approach of the Uncommon Wisdom Coaching Institute. We are in the process of seeking formal accreditation with the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Current participants will receive ICF credit hours applicable toward ICF membership upon accreditation.
What if I need to pause or withdraw from the programme?
Life happens. Participants who need to pause their participation due to genuine circumstances may apply to defer to the following cohort at no additional cost. We ask for as much notice as possible. Participants who withdraw after the programme begins are refunded on a pro-rata basis for any sessions not yet delivered.
What happens after certification — is there ongoing support?
Completion opens into a lifelong relationship with the Institute community. You receive twelve months of post-certification group supervision, permanent access to all course materials, listing in our international coach directory, and priority access to advanced training and future cohorts. The graduation is not an ending — it is an entry point.
How many participants are accepted per cohort?
Each cohort is intentionally small — a maximum of 30 participants. This is not a large-group training. The intimacy of the cohort is essential to the quality of the learning environment and the depth of the supervision and mentorship available. We take this limit seriously and do not exceed it.

If this is calling you,
trust that.

The September 2027 cohort will accept a maximum of 30 participants. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and the cohort typically fills before the official close date. If you feel genuinely called to this work, do not wait.

The application is not a formality — it is the beginning of the discernment process. We read every application carefully, and we are looking not for the most impressive background but for the most genuine readiness.
